Our Ethos
Rural Mid Wales is not the first place you would imagine a media production company to be based! Colleagues who work in the hustle and bustle of the City environment are without exception green with envy when they visit Pixel Foundry and see what's possible in this unlikely setting. Nestled in the tranquil hills of this North West corner of Powys, surrounded by rivers, forests, mountains, a coastline to die for and close-knit forward-thinking communities, Pixel Foundry shares an office building with other companies: Life Story Ltd.(The Personal Motion Picture Company), Cyberium (Web design and content), Continyou (building learning communities) and
Giles Thaxton Photography.
We are all keen to be a part of raising the GDP of the area by creating training and employment opportunities and developing a critical mass of businesses who can benefit from the intertrading and collaboration opportunities that result. One of Pixel Foundry's key ethics is to deal fairly and honestly with all who come into contact with us. We have the following company policies (Copies of which are availabe on request): Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety.
Our non-profit work
Pixel Foundry has produced videos free of charge where the directors feel there would be a strong community benefit in our locality. For example, responding to local concerns in our own village, Pixel Foundry made a film to help promote the aims of a steering group that is ensuring sustainable and sympathetic development in the community. The film has been shown at various events and has raised the profile of the local needs with Assembly Members and Members of Parliament. We also produced a video to support a group who wanted to save a long-standing community hall in Blaeunau Ffestiniog from demolition. We have also supported young, local film-makers who have a compelling story to tell; by providing equipment, facilities and training to help them produce their own films; more about this can be found on our training page. In 2006, Pixel Foundry was selected as an example of best practice in Corporate Social Responsibility from SME's right across Europe. At the invitation of the European Union, Richard spoke at a conference in Brussels about Pixel Foundry's ethos.
